New things in the Studio: July Edition

Welcome to July! Another month, another edition of what's new in the studio!

July has definitely sent us some weird weather in Toronto. Floods of rain in the morning. Hot summer day by the afternoon.

Compact charging where ever you go

I'm a huge fan of magsafe and I've shared a lot of different items on this blog for magsafe and charging. I plan to travel more over the next few years so I bought the UGREEN Qi2 Certified Magnetic Wireless Charging Station.

It folds out to allow me to charge my phone and airpods, with an additional USB-C port for additional devices. Because it's Qi2 certified, it can charge an iPhone up to 15W. And when I'm ready to go it compacts into a neat little package.

The every day, all rounder

So I'm a huge fan of watches and so I often try and find something unique to add to my collection. Recently I added the If the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical.

It's a 38mm mechanical watch that pays homage to its 1960s military origins. It has this amazing brushed, matte titanium like finish (though the case is made of stainless steel). It's accented by this fantastic fabric green strap, with brown leather detailing. Definitely something that makes for a great daily. Amazing design in a very tiny package!

Reading more and more about design

I find myself spending more time these days reading more books. Specifically around design. Rimowa, An Archive is no exception.

It's a massive book documenting Rimowa's design from their inception in 1898 right to the present. Every generation, every collab and every detail beautifully catalogued and explained. It really reminds me of the Designed by Apple in California book from a few years ago.

Feeling my Oura

I'm not one for wearing an Apple Watch on my wrist. Don't get me wrong they make excellent fitness trackers but I just don't want to have to deal with constantly charging them. I ended up picking up an Oura Ring recently.

I have been wearing it for the past two weeks and so far it has been great. It tracks passive things like sleep, stress and heart rate well enough, which is more important to me than tracking my performance during a workout. Plus it gives me a readiness score in the morning so I know how well I am ready for the day.
